About life… Adages, proverbs, and quotes

Trust me, I’m no sage.  But, I am old enough to say that I have been around the block a few times now.  Here are just a few things I have learned along the way.

-Sin has an easy definition… selfishness in action.

-Just remember, no matter how big you are there will always be some small person who prides himself in looking down on you.

-Don’t force your future to fall in line with your fears or your future will always be filled with fear.

-Worrying about settling for second best will likely lead you to simply settle on worrying…which is the absolute worst.

-If you ever have to ask, just know that the right thing to do is to do the right thing.

-Disappointment comes to those who try to control an outcome and find they don’t.

-Don’t grieve about your yesterdays.  You know the One who has forgiven and now remembers no more!  Don’t fret about the present.  You belong to the LORD your God and Protector!  Don’t worry about tomorrow.  You know the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End.  And He holds the future!  He is El-Olam, after all, God Everlasting!

-When we build our identity on what we perceive to be our faults then we fail to realize our legitimate strengths…

-Friends are blessings.  Good friends are great blessings.  And best friends are blessings beyond measure.

-I want to live in such a way that my future sight and my present sight are just as clear as my hindsight.

-There is no rule in life which requires that second chances be expected or granted.  A second chance is a gift offered in grace which should be accepted with a deep humility and sense of contrition.

-”I can do all things through Him who gives me strength” is never to be understood as an empowerment to attempt the impossible. Instead, it is the secret to being empowered through the seemingly impossible…

-No honest “I’m sorry” will ever be followed by a “but”.

-I found it funny that my fortune cookie from a Chinese dinner was made in Illinois.

-Asking for directions is great…but only if the one you are asking knows how to get where you are going!

-It is hard to have a healthy relationship with someone who does not already have a good relationship with his/her self.

-No…necessity is not the mother of invention…laziness is!

-Advice, especially unsolicited advice, is never received well from the one who does not practice it himself.

-Christian living can be described as being on a “God ride.” You’ve been invited on…so buckle in and go where He takes you!

-Don’t “have” a friend.  “Be” a friend.

-There is no replacement for truth.  But truth spoken without love and compassion can sometimes be brutality…

-Regrets in life are nearly inevitable.  Live in such a way that you do not create any preventable ones.
